The Friends of Birch State Park hosted almost 200 guests and raised more than $90,000 for projects in Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca was recognized with The Sandman Award for his role in procuring beach renourishment for Fort Lauderdale Beach. Marti Huizenga got The Believer’s Award for her years of believing in and supporting the community’s efforts towards bringing value back to Birch State Park for future generations. Jim Ellis was presented the Hugh Taylor Birch Visionary Award for his lengthy and ongoing commitment to ensuring the revitalization of the park.
